Building a Dream Space For Your Children

Childhood is a magical time and it is the responsibility of parents everywhere to lean into this with full force. Creating a home that is filled with love, wonder, and imagination is a big part of what fuels healthy attachments, positive development, and joy. These essential ingredients will help any child to grow up feeling supported, with a great sense of self. These are some ways to build a dream space for your kids.

Lean Into Their Interests

It is easy to figure out what your children love and the things that capture their attention. So whether your child loves dinosaurs or unicorns or dino-corns (yes, they are a thing) embrace it and make the space completely centered around everything that brings them happiness. Put it on the walls through wallpaper or picture hangings and décor, and make room for all of their most-loved toys.

Make it Fun

Children need time outside, and this will be a major setting for you to develop. Playsets are a fantastic opportunity to make the outdoors even more exciting and can inspire them to throw on their shoes and head out there even when they are feeling extra grumpy or defiant. You can always find something that will fit into your garden, regardless of how big or small it is, and your children will learn how to become more independent, have lots of fun, and enhance core dexterity skills too.

Think Outside of the Box

The area, regardless of whether it is confined or widespread, is likely to be a hub of activity which means there will also be a lot of mess. This often requires creative solutions. Sometimes, it is necessary to think outside of the box and this is never more relevant than when creating a space for young people. Invest in comfort and storage because these two things will make it easier to participate and build your bond.

Work With the Space You’ve Got

Not everyone has hundreds of acres to work with, but it really doesn’t matter. Your child will love what you have to offer as long as it is created with their best interests at heart. Don’t yearn for something you don’t have when there are so many opportunities lying in wait where you already are. Measure up and draw some plans so that you have a range of ideas to play with, and remember what you do is wonderful and more than enough.

Fill it With Love

The biggest trick of all is to make sure whichever route you take is filled with love. Children need their core relationships more than they need stuff and things. While toys and small details definitely help to keep them entertained, the things they remember will be the feeling and vibe of their environment more than anything else. A dream space should focus on love and attention so that your child has the building blocks for a bright future.

Dream spaces are easy to create when you have such great motivation. Figure out how to make things age appropriate and lean into being present as much as you can.
